Since I've ordered the dual. Would two hurt? I don't see it making it warmer just spreading the heat wider and the UV doesn't compound that I know of.

It mostly seems like extra expense. I doubt 2 will hurt, but you can use a regular incandescent or halogen to make it warmer.

Ok I do have some halogens I could warm it up with, and save the extra UVB bulb for when the first one goes

When setting up a MVB (most likely the mega-ray 100 watt) is it okay to leave it on a timer and have it off during the night?

My concern is there being no basking heat source through the night. I realize my RES wouldn't likely have a heat source like that in the wild but it would also have a different habitat that might keep it warmer at night through insulation?

I have my MegaRay on a timer. Tobi mostly sleeps at the bottom at night.

There shouldn't be a need for a basking light at night.

If it get's cold overnight, you should consider having a submersible water heater. If it get's very cold, consider an acrylic top to help retain some of the warmth.
