Stealth pro heater was recalled!

I had the 150 watt Stealth Pro heater for my 55 gallon tank. I have about 40-45 gallons in the tank. Anyway, it was recalled. Guess it would over heat, to the point of making tanks explode! They aren't making them any longer so don't buy any. Question is, what tank heater to buy next? Any recommendations? I have two glass (spare) heaters in there now but would prefer non glass. Thoughts?

There are a couple post about stealth pro heaters. Should pin that topic so it doesnt keep getting reposted.

You really dont have to worry about glass heaters breaking. They can take a beating from a turtles shell. Any eheim jager heater is a good choice.

Gee I dunno... someone with a heater question searching about heaters in the equipment forum? I mean it's only a few threads up from this one right now... heheheh.

the instructions are the first thing I throw away :D if I REALLY need instructions, there's a PDF or a youtube video somewhere.

oh if you take something apart... you can almost guarantee there will be extra unnecessary parts.

yeah but the important part is that you make it appear as if it was "poor engineering" or that you're doing a "weight reduction" to improve performance and reduce complexity. I mean come on now... no sense on having those parts if said item still works the same or better without them. :D

Okay...so what you are saying I don't read, you don't read, and yet we have a forum. So, eheim appears to be the only one mentioned. They are German...as am I...so that's a sure sign they are good. ;)

Yeah eheim is the only one mentioned because of it's reliability, proven track record, and turtle-proof-ness. If the eheim heaters were 3x the price they would still be a good value and we would probably list some less expensive alternatives. But when the eheim heaters are better than the rest AND at the same price or lower than the others... it's really an easy choice.

Is this recall still in affect??? I bought my heater December of 2010 haven't had any problems with it though but after reading about them exploding I really don't want it in my aquarium.
