I have a Fluval 3 Plus and have been using it for a couple of months.

This morning, the filter completely stopped pumping water, even when it was almost completely submerged. We assumed it was clogged, so we took it apart, and started to clean it. (I would like to point out that, when we first brought the filter home and first turned it on, it immediately said it was clogged, and I doubt a filter can clog after pumping water for five seconds) Anyways, as we were taking apart the filter, a thin, metal rod which is no more than an inch and a half long, fell out of some place. We did not put it back because we have no idea where it goes. In any case, we tried reinstalling the filter, and, oddly enough, it is pumping water like it normally does.

Who here has a great deal of experience with this type of filter? Where does this metal rod piece go? Thank you very much :)

Okay, this might help?

If your filter is the one found here (http://www.hagen.com/pdf/aquatic/fluvalplus.pdf), on page 14, number 2 looks like a metal rod, which it says is the Impeller Shaft. I cannot, however, tell you the purpose of it or if it is needed!

Yup, thats what that is -- it holds the magnet/impeller in place.

Nevermind, I got my computer to open the PDF file, had to restart my google chrome.

Anyways, I stuck the metal rod in where it says it should go, and, the filter is pumping water normally again! YAYYERS!

Thank you Ms. Jax :D
