I just saw this posted on another forum, so I thought I'd add to the hype here
Looks like Fluval is coming out with a new "revolutionary" filter in October. Not much info on it yet, but they've got a fancy video on their web site!

I hadn't heard of this, until you posted it up. I took a look at the site yesterday, it's very laid out and user friendly.

Worth looking into on my filter hunt, when it's actually on the market, at least. I think, if it's proven to work really good, I'd get it after it being on the market for a while. Ya know, so the price will go down.

I'm a firm hater of how expensive pet supplies are. Canister filters are nothing but tubes, a plastic bin, and media. I've seen some for smaller tanks cost over 50 bucks...

i looked too - and it looks .... EXPENSIVE!

some kind of water pump is in there too - but i'm not quite sure on why it's so expensive either.

you maybe can argue R+D but if they created a small filter - wouldn't they just base the larger filters off that only the tubes and media filter is a larger.

oh well -- happy to provide a happy home but screaming at the expense.

Rumours are floating around that it might have a built-in UV-sterilizer, and possibly an in-line heater. Either that, or it's a cyborg.

Won't be the first. There's a filter out now called the Ekip Thermofilter, which is stupidly expensive, but it heats the water as it filters it. So, I wouldn't be surprised if a big chain like Fluval tried this too.

I like the Ekip's concept, I really do, my only issues are the price, and I haven't found one which I think would filter all that water in my tank.

I think that filter, or something very similar, has been out a few years now...

Bit more info on the G now. G3 will have 700 lph (~185 gph) and G6 will have 100 lph (~265 gph). In the UK the G3 will retail for £299.99 and the G6 at £349.99.

It certainly is pricey, but talking with lots of fish keepers, they're hoping it'll bring in the new generation of filters. I'm sure the knockoffs are coming, but maybe in a few years the other brand names will be producing something similar for a lower price.

They sure look nice, but they'd probably have a bit of a time keeping up with a full grown RES!

But i'm sure that whole video explaining ALL the work they did developing the product, is to justify the absurd price they're gonna charge people for it.
Also seems to have an LCD display.I'm guessing to display nitrite, nitrate and temps????
I won't be buying one anytime soon
