Equipment Review and Discussion :: Mold on Turtle dock?

My turtle dock appears to have mold on it.



You can see in the pictures a little green speck.



Is this something i should worry about? Do i need another basking platform asap or is it no big deal.

Chances are it's just algae. Wash if off if it bothers you that much. Mine eventually go completely green and I replace them when they get too smelly.

If you are concerned it may be algae or mold, give it a scrub and pour some diluted bleach on it. You can also try concentrated alcohol, like rubbing alcohol or a really high proof vodka, and let it completely air dry. However, since those things tend to be made out of a foamy polymer, try it on a small section in case it dissolves! You could also try hot water, but it needs to be at least 120 degrees F, which may cause it to dissolve.
