I can't find any. I only can find De-ICers which I don't think actaully heat the water.

And yes, I know it will be hella expensive to run every winter month.

Don't know, I don't use any. Regular aquarium heaters would work out, if they can reach a minimum temp you want.

I thought you can't use indoor heaters outside.

I know of some people who have, depending on the enclosure and where it was located (not in ponds, but in stock tanks, for example).

I remember searching for pond heaters ages ago. They do exist, but they're terribly expensive.

Despite the name, that sounds like a de-icer---it says only that it leaves a hole in the ice.

For example: http://www.koifishponds.com/pond_heaters.htm was more in the line of what I was thinking of. Perhaps there are others that are cheaper.

Wonder what the gas bill would be to run that? (seriously not being sarcastic). Also how would the turtles bask?

They dont bask. They hibernate. But if they freeze, they die, so the water has to be semi warm. Not like 70 degrees. Just like 33. They pretty much "die" then wake up. They dont even have to breathe....for like 3 months. But having a hole in the ice would allow them to.

The problem with little ponds like a regular turtle pond, is that it WOULD freeze all the way through. Killing the turtles. Ususally a little help is required to keep the ice thawed. (a heater)
