hey guys well i finally got the 55 gallon tank, i also have the lights uva and uvb bulbs and two clip on lamps, im going to buy eggcrate in the am to cut for a lid, i already have a 250 watt stealth heater, a medium acrylic turtle ramp, two digital thermometers, i know what stand im gonna build based on octopusgirls stand plan modified for a 55 gallon tank.

the only thing I'm still missing is a filter. anyone know of a inexpensive filter for a 55 gallon tank looking not to spend over 70 dollars i can get two Marineland Penguin 350B filters for $56.00 but im not sure how to set it up without filling it all the way up i just wanna fill the tank about 16 inches up so 3/4ths of the way and i dont really wanna hear the dripping water sound all night. so any ideas?

San-312 You will need a filter that pumps at least 5 times the water volume in the tank. Think in gph and not sizing from a fish tank. I have a fluval 405 on a 55 and it does great. It is about 300 gph. I think I paid more than $70.00 for it. It is a canister and does a good job. Marinland Magnum 350 filter is a little cheaper and also does a good job. Again think in terms of gph when sizing a filter. m.
