should i leave my 25 watt blue day light on the screen on top of his tank or should i hang it with the 13 watt fluorescent uvb coil bulb??? i have the uvb light hanging about 10 inches above the basking rock.

as for where the heat lamp should be placed, probably 8 inches away from the prime basking spot. more off, try to place it somewhere where the rays can reach the basking area easily (not through a screen) the beneficial rays wont go through a screen that is covering it.

also, if im not mistaken, 25 watts for a heat bulb is not enough. i personally have a 60 watt and a 75 watt for my two turtles. it gets up to 100 on the prime basking spot, but the turtles adjust to the spots they like

just be sure and measure the temp of the basking spot.

Position it so that it heats the basking area 88-90F (but not so close that your turtle could touch it). If it's really close, use a regular incandescent light bulb with a higher wattage for heat.
