Hi everyone.I just need some advice on whether or not I should buy this setup that someone is selling used- A 55 gallon tank with metal stand, lights, hood and a Eheim II Professional Canister Filter. This filter alone new costs around $300.The person selling it is asking $160.Is this a good deal?? Has anyone ever used one of these filters before?? I will put my 2 red ears into this 55 gallon tank. This does sound like a good deal but I would like some input first from the great people here on this forum!! Thanks to all!!

that sounds pretty good.
a 55g alone can be up to $119.
and Eheim can be pricey. like you mentioned 300.
did he throw in some media too?
i think that a lone is a dead give away.
just to ask, what kind of lights?

Which Eheim is it.. the 2126? Did they tell you how old the filter is?
Overall, I think it's an OK deal if everything is in perfect condition. Good luck!

Hi and thanks for your help. This tank was used as a regular fish tank in the past. The person got tired of having fish and it has been sitting in storage for a little while. Not that long of time.Anyway everything looks in great shape and the eheim looks in new shape. It is the 2126 model filter. The lights that come with it are the regular ones for fish with the hood as well and metal stand all for $160.The filter is about a year old.Media is all there.Should I grab this deal or what?? I am leaning very much into getting it but as I said I want input from you great people here!!! Also I have never used Ehiem before.I did use in the past Fluval 205 and 305 filters.Which I think are pure crap as per my experience with them!!! Let me know please guys. Thanks again!!

I would replace all media if it has been used before.
Other than that, sounds like a good deal. Grab it!

gt-68 -- Check to see if the filter pumps at least 5 times the water volume. You will need that much to set a good biological filter. Fish folks don't need that much water pumped. Turtles do!! M.

Hi.Yes I will have to make sure as fish and turtles is a big difference in filteration.I hope that this filter will do a good job as if I were to buy it new it would cost around $300.Thanks for your help.
