So then you'll need a UVB light as well.

cykatheres - whereabouts in Philly are you from?

marisa - are you sure they'll need a UVB light? That T-Rex bulb provides UVA/B correct?

It appears to be a newer, low-cost product, with lower UVB output: http://lllreptile.com/store/catalog/rep ... heat-bulb/

Very interesting, we'll need to do some testing.

Since the poster said it was a standard heat bulb, I assumed that there was no UVB involved.

I looked at the link---if it has to be used longer to get an equivalent amount of UVB, I wonder if it's really lower cost...

Papoopeepoo: I live in the Germantown section of philly and you? Well on the side of the box....the bulb arrived today...States: Benefits you and your reptile will realize immediately! Proven to increase appetite, activity, breeding and color. Restores and maintains Vitamin D3 levels. Self-Ballasted mercury vapor lamp. Now do/will I need an UVB bulb also?

I live in East Oak Lane. We're pretty close.

To answer your question: No, you will not need a supplemental UVB bulb. The MVB that you have will emit UVA/B, heat, and visible light (so that you can see your turtle basking  )

Sorry, no you don't need one. When I replied to your post, I was thinking you had gotten a regular basking bulb.
