ok, so myrtle is moving into a 65 gallon in may, im trying to prepare for this. i was gonna make my on sump and use an overflow box. but now my gf is saying i would spend too much money. and ill leave out the whole stupid annoying details of that *she* *cough* has a horse* *cough* so basically waht filter makes the most sense to get for a 65 gallon that isnt too expensive. im 17 and maks like 7.45 an hour and if im lucky get 15 hours a week. im not askin u to pity me im just asking u take that into consideration. thank you.

well you could always use your 30 gal canister and buy one for 80 gal and connect um or use them separately (connect as in intake #1 in water then connect the outtake to the intake of the new filter and put the reamaneing outake in the water lol or you could just use the 80 gal filter for the 65 gal and the 30 for the 29 gal if you whant to get that map turtle

Depending on what supplies you have on hand, a sump may work out cheapest. I think usually the most expensive part of a sump is the pump.

But for a 65g the Fluval 405, or the Rena XP3 or XP4 would also be good choices. These are all under $200, and you can often find good deals on eBay.

i found a power filter that does 300-350 gph(i forget which) and i can get it for like 30$. can i just do that? and combine it with my 80gph and 100gph filters? (i also have 2 filters meant for 5-10 gallons. dont know the GPH, i used to bemore into fish and they dont need as much filtration as turtles.)

r-o24 Keep in mind the 5x rule. That is a "at least" number. I like more but if very thing else is up to par that should do it. I have had better luck with more gph but that is up to you. Good Luck!

ive only heard a 3x rule. and my tank now only has 2x and i rarely need to actually clean it. it stays rly clean and the rosy reds really help with it. and worst situation ill be doing weekly cleanings or something. oh well.
