i know i should look around this forum first before asking, but i have to leave in a minute, so i thought i would just post this and see what people say.






can i put feeder fish with my baby RES, he is only about an inch long, if that, and if i get really small guppies or something like that can he eat them? or will it just be torture for him, not being able to get them and all?

no because i asked before and they told me that my 1" would nip at the feeder fish . and feeder fish are vary messy and will dirty up you tank in no time flat. but it would be awesome if you could )=

i just thought that maybe they would keep him busy since his buddy is no longer with him, and he seems to be bored! but i have another question,
can i take him outside at such a young age?


ofcourse im going to watch him the WHOLE time, and make sure he has water and stuff, but will it be OK for me to take him out?

You can get your guy some feeder guppies. At a young age he may not be able to catch them, but swimming after them is great exercise. Mine have had feeders since they were wee small. They do add to the wasteload in your tank, so make sure you have a really good filter. Also, they will breed, so don't start with too many.

You can take him outside if it is warm, but also avoid direct sunlight, make sure there is some shade available. Kiddie pools are cheap and make great turtle ponds for smaller turtles. Just don't put so much water in them that they can escape. Mine love going outside. I bought a large potted plant to sit next to the pool to give them shade. I also provided a large piece of wood for them to bask on...away from the edges.

I had small Rosies in with my turtles when they were 1 inch hatchlings, and they ate them without any problem at all. I have also found that the feeder fish and ghost shrimp like to eat the detritus at the bottom, and left over from the turtles' feeding frenzy. I wouldn't put more than 6 or so in there, but they enjoy the chase, and the fish are good for them in moderation. I have heard that feeder fish can dirty a tank up further, but I haven't seen it myself. I would say try it to both of you. It is really amazing to watch your cute little babies hunting.
