Last night I fed Fred and Ethel a little bit of an earthworm, I rinsed it off beforehand. This morning when I woke up, the surface of the water was covered in slime, so thick in one spot I don't think they could get their heads through (it was just the one corner though) I immediately did a water change, but I was really worried....I'm guessing this was from the worm, next time I give them some earthworm should I rinse it like a lot more, or how could I prevent this??

Wow, that's pretty strange. Do you need a more powerful filter?

I probably could use a better filter, it's an old one from my mom's 55 gallon tank, don't even know the brand... the weird thing was i fed them the worms in their feeding tub...so maybe they burped up the slime? i don't know it was gross though

Lots of people on here feed their turtles earth worms but i've never heard of it causing slime on the water before. Are the turtles behaving like they feel well or do you think there's a chance they are sick?

no they're behaving fine, since i changed the water there's no recurring sliminess, i don't know maybe next time they want a treat i'll give them something else
