Mine ate out of my hand as soon as I got her..lol
If your turtles eat veggies, you could try holding a piece of lettuce and hold it in front of them. Pellets are kinda small, your turtle might accidentally bite you instead!

I only hand feed mine when im feeding them Reptomin. The adult reptomin sticks are longer so its a heck of alot easier. But like kevin said..you can hand feed them lettuce too, if you want.

My turtle will only eat pellets out of my hand, if i drop them into the water he ignores them and continues to beg. If i'm in a hurry and don't have time to feed him his pellets one by one i have to give him a different food. As far as teaching them to eat from your hand, maybe try a worm or a piece of tuna, something that they really go for.

i guess it just takes them time to realize youre their source of food. once mine learned to beg he pretty much started grabbin pellets from my fingers. but watch out..they dont always have perfect aim lol

Just be persistent. It took mine a few days to get used to it.
Try and get their attention through the glass by holding a pellet in your fingers. They'll eventually see it and you can "lead" them to the top, then hold it over the water very still. If you move your hand or fingers while they are working up the courage to go get it, you may scare em away. Eventually they'll get used to it and they'll just be waiting for the "giant hand that bringeth food"

Hold a pellet in your thumb and forefinger in front of the nose just above the water level.

Don't they have to be submerged to eat tho?

They just have to be submerged to swallow. If you hold it just above the water, they'll take it out of your hand and then drop under the water to finish it off. Then they'll swim back up to the top the beg for more!

My turtles will scramble up the basking platform to grab a cricket and then dive in the water to swallow it.
