just make sure you dont use pesticides on your lawn and wash them very well before you feed them also remember the good part are the leaves and roots, not the yellow part 8)

Just pick the leaves and rinse them off in clean water really well. You can feed the flowers occasionally since they are high in vitamins and antioxidants I believe. But they are also high in phosphorous so you don't want to feed too much of it very often.

My female RES is always a voracious eater... I'll have to wait to see if my other RES picks up his appetite.

I'm not that far from you, Andrew. Where do you live, ice? I'm near what's known as the "Quiet Corner" of CT.

I've seen a few dandelions, but haven't pick any yet (I've still got some that I bought at the supermarket). You should pick them before they blossom, then the leaves get really bitter. I've never known a RES to like the flowers, although I think some land turtles and tortoises might.

I've been digging earthworms as well for the past few weeks. Actually they never really were without them---it was so warm here at the end of the year and early January, that I was still digging them then. I dug up extra to tide them over until the weather warmed again.
