Feeding and Nutrition :: Water dish

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

I'm just curious, but could a turtle eat out of a dish filled with water?
I know that turts have no saliva, but could they eat from a small petri dish with water and food inside?

Or would the turtle just grab the food and run to a water source.

It'd be interesting to try... :D

Depends on the turt. Some will try and succeed, some might not care.

You would probably need a very low bowl for the turtle to reach it and make sure the turtle knows thats whereits food is.

It's hard to do this without making a mess. The turtle has to submerge his/her head into the water to get enough water to swallow the food. I have tried this in the past & all Sheba did was spill water all over the kitchen floor.
