Using the suggestions on this page Geno and I have taken this 20 gallon tank we had lying around and are attemping to breed Rosey's.

I spoke with people at a fish store and they said I should do guppies because they're a life birth fish and Rosey's lay eggs. I had already had my heart set on Rosey's and that's the only life fish Sput's has ever ate.

I'm guessing I'll know whether or not this is going to work in about 4 weeks, because for one I'm not sure which are males and which are females. I got 10 in there, with lots of places to spawn. So there should be at least 1 female in the lot.

I'm anxious to hear how it goes. I've got three big rosies in the tank with Spot right now and I'm positive one is a male guarding some eggs stuck to the bottom of a little bridge in the tank. He attacked me and he attacked the syphon when I cleaned the tank the other night. He's under there all the time fending off other minnows and faning the water. When the minnows in the big outdoor pond had little ones last year they had hundreds and hundreds of them. I really hope there isn't going to be anything like that in the tank!

Well I started with 10 RRM's. Now I have 3. The reproduction process seems to be going backward.

I have concluded that most of these fish were sick when I got them, though they seemed healthy enough. If they don't breed soon, I'll probably throw some guppies in there instead since they're easier to breed.

It's weird, the first aquarium I've ever had to have fish just die in.

I've been trying to breed guppies in the same tank as my turtle and so far so good. I got 2 male and 2 female. 1 of each got eaten and 1 of each have survived. I've already got 1 baby that's getting bigger by the day. the female must have already been fertilized before I got her.

the 2 act quite funny sometimes, must be mating dances or something. hopefully i'll have more in a couple months!

He he, I just added some guppies and minnows to my turtles tank too. I have a "cage" built under the basking platform with live plants where the fish can hide and breed. There's some ghost shrimp in there too. We'll see how it goes!

There were three big minnows in Spot's tank and I was sure the biggest one was a male guarding some eggs under a ramp - he was ALWAYS under there and would "bite" anyone who came near. But nothing ever happened. About a week ago I moved the minnows to a separate little aquarium because I didn't want Spot to eat them - they've become like pets. I checked under the bridge to see if there were any little eggs but I could see nothing. I really don't think there were any eggs but for some reason the big minnow thought there were.
