Abot a week ago I put about six rosey reds in Alphonse's tank and all but one where gone by the next morning. Except one who is hiding under the rock ai have holding my filter in place and my submersable water heater. My guess is he is only coming out for food when Alphonse is basking or sleeping. Also Alphonse has bin gobbling down broccoli ive bin placeing in his tank, and the bites of baby carrots have bin missing from the old ones im takeing out of the tank. Also he likes to play with his cuttle bone, while he eats it. Im so happy. Sorry this is kinda just babble but I just wanted to share. :P

Anyone else have funny fish or turtle stories?

For turtle stories, I'll mention that currently Napoleon's water level is lowered until I can fix his basking dock, and his filter (fluval 2 plus) had to be turned. So it's now laying on the bottom, shooting water up at about a 45 degree angle, and Napoleon has taken to hovering over it and letting it blow up under him, like a little jacuzzi!

He also has a habit of climbing and jumping off things. We had him up on the couch one time, and he walked over to the edge, looked, and actually jumped off the edge of the couch. Michael was watching him and caught him just as he jumped, and Napoleon stretched his legs way out like he was saying 'whee!'

What part of the broccoli are you giving him? My turtle book says the florets are bad but the stem and leaves are ok..I'm curious whether anyone knows for sure.

Yes, avoid broccoli (I don't have any info on the leaves).

Rather than broccoli, get him eating leafy greens---dandelions, red-leaf lettuce, romaine, even the occasional collard leaf.
