Feeding and Nutrition :: fat little turtles

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

I remember Grey Goose once upon a time mentioning little meatballs with a shell, and I believe I saw them when we got home. (really not soooo bad, maybe raviolis.) Apparently, my mother, sister, and amiga were feeding the turtles treats when they came over. All three "They seemed so hungry, I had to give them something." So after all my furious planning and writing and leaving 3 pages of notes, I still forgot to tell them about the pitiful begging act. So they look huge, and I think Spike (the bigger piggy) weighs twice as much as he did 2 weeks ago. I don't see fat bulging out anywhere, but I am wondering if I should cut back on their pellets for a little while or not?

LOL. I wouldn't worry, just go back to the regular feeding. The little con-artists just "got over" on the babysitters!

LOL, scripta!!! That's cracking me up. I don't know if it helps, but when I go on vacation, I put measured amounts of reptomin pellets in small disposable plastic containers & tell the babysitter "one container of pellets every 2 days." I never tell them about "treats" so that the temptation isn't there.

Just go back to the normal feeding routine and the kids will be fine. :)

How was your vacation?

Thanks guys! Vacation was lovely, and I would really like to move to Mexico someday. I think the turtles would enjoy a huge outdoor pond behind a little hacienda. They seem a little skitty now, but then they have been alone for a little while.

Welcome back! Raviolis... :) An outdoor pond behind a little hacienda sounds pretty good to me too.
