My RES is just 4 inches. Cant tell just yet if its a male or female, that will be my next issue soon im sure. But anyway. Ive been doing a lot of reading on here and finding all kinds of information. Norman loves all the things people on here have mentioned except the rosies. I got him about 12 of them just about a month ago and i think he only ate 1 and a couple died and there have been 9 swimming around with him ever since. But the ghost shrimp all vanished over night. Im thinking about maybe trying snails soon too, maybe. Even likes egg whites. My question is how often should i be feeding him these things aside from his pellets. One a week each thing? Or just one of these things every couple or few weeks as a treat? And the cuttlebone? How often should i give him pieces. Ive never seen him "crave" calium from what ive heard about it (chewing on the dock, etc.) I want him too be healthy and happy and give him all kinds of good eats but i dont want too over do it to the point where it may be unhealthy for him. Sorry my post is soo long and that i may sound like a noob. I actually am. But hey thats what this community is about right?
Help each other and share info. So please help me a lil bit wit my buddys diet. Thank you

High protein "snacks" should be given sparingly (fish, snails shrimp), lettuces can be given daily/every other day, fruits should be given once a week or two, cuttlebone can be left floating in the tank so they can nibble on it when they're in the mood.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think thats how it is.

The only thing I would add to all of that, variety is key! Mix up the greens that you offer, and then occassionally throw in some of the treats that you have mentioned.
