there is so much leftover crumbs at the bottom of the tank now. will this have any bad effects? will this cause planaria to grow? and how much and how often should i give cuttlebone

no it's not an issue to have on the bottom, i didnt have any problems

Just break a chunk off, and your turtle should go after it when needed. Some will eat it on the bottom, others wont. Babys need slivers.

mine is eating it floating and sucken. and flutterby just stop. the search engine here is bad. it finds threads that have noting to do what i want. so just answer my q, it would take a few seconds. and if u dont want to answer ignore my threads

Just wait til the mods and the other members tell you to do the same thing. No the search here is NOT bad, you're just lazy, if you can take the time to make ALL the threads that you have been making, you can take the time to look up the information for yourself. Yes, we are here to help, but it shouldn't be abused. You should really learn to be self reliant and do some of the work yourself and if you can't find the information that you're looking for THEN ask questions.

As to the "will it harm your turtles", no it will eventually disolve adding calcium to the water.

you know what thirzty turtle, im tired of you. first you tell people not to answer the urgent care questions, WHICH is the rules and common sense and now you are arguing with people who have been on this forum for more than a year.... why dont you LISTEN !!!! I typed in cuttle bone in the search engine that STINKS and found 4 threads in 10 seconds. Why dont you just follow the rules. It is annoying to the members when you post the same thing, and then you make TWO posts about the same topic. I could see if it was something special you wanted to share or ask, but you are asking basic questions that have been asked already.

No, it won't make planaria grow, they have to be there in some form or another.

Let's not argue with one another. The purpose of this board is to share our hobby of turtle-keeping. Some of the more frequent users are able to utilize the search feature more easily, such as being able to know what key words to search with. Allow the newer users to become accustomed to this.

I know that everyone could've handled this situation in a more mature fasion. Thirzty Turtle, it'd be nice if you could start one topic with all your questions in it, you'd be able to add on as you think of new ones. We all know how many questions come up when it comes to turtle care.

I hope that everyone can "make up" so there is no unecessary tension on this forum.

As for the original question, as flutterby said, the planaria must already be in the tank for them to grow. Therefore the cuttlebone will not have any ill effects. Although it may cloud the water, when your turtles seem satisfied, try fishing out the leftover pieces with a fish net.

RESowner34: I can say this as a moderator.. since this has come up in this topic. That it does get tiring to spoonfeed people information when with a little effort on their part they can find a multitude of answers for themselves. Steve has put a lot of time and effort into this site and the search engine etc. and for someone to say it STINKS, ticks me off. Some people join a lot of turtle forums and ask the same questions on each one.. some how they must think we are idiots not to notice this. To me those people are just plain and simply LAZY!!!! Even when they are told to look things up for themselves, by other members or the moderators, they simply ignore it. If we continue doing this for them it will never stop. Unfortunately, as soon as you get one taken care of, another newbie steps in and takes over. Just the nature of the forum and I'm not sure there is an easy solution for it.

I can understand where you 3 are coming from, you all are veterans to this forum and probably have seen these kind of questions a lot. It probably gets boring afterawhile.

I just hate it when people argue.....
