I bought these awhile ago and have been feeding my two baby turtles these for the last 2 weeks. I feed the amount that can fit into their head's if it was hallow excluding the neck.

Below is the Pellets and I feed them this often

Below is the Krill, I feed them this twice a week instead of the pellets

I was wondering if these are good for my turtles, if not what food is good for them??
When I feed them these they go crazy for it, so I always thought it was good, but after reading many post about feeding I'm a little worried this could cause over weight or pyramiding. How do I know if they are Pyramiding?

i use the krill just incase i need to try to enspire eating... or if they both are eating well, it's almost like a "desert" i give them about 1/4 of what would fit in their head... When iasked about this i was told it was a turtle treat, not a turtle food...

I have been feeding my turtle the regular hatchling turtle food from ZooMed since July without any problems. Donatello only gets about 5-8 pellets a day and the rest of it in veggies, though. That is what they were feeding the hatchlings at the pet store where I got him from and that is what they reccomended. Since that was what he was used to eating, I have never had any problems with him eating them. (He ate as soon as I brought him home) I think the key to a happy turtle and healthy turtle diet is plenty of variety. My vet reccomended only about 25% pellets with a good variety of veggies and they occasional feeder fish for protein as a balanced diet. The vet also told me the more "natural" the foods are, the better.

What I meant by natural was not as much of the processed foods and treats in jars and cans. I just by fresh produce and wash it really well when I get it home. You also will want to give them pieces of cuttlebone for calcium too.

I used to give those micro-pellets from Zoo-Med to my RES for a while when he was a hatchling. Hated the smell of them. If you can get some, you could also rotate it with Reptomin Baby, which is a bit lower in protein and contains the % of calcium on the container (3%, I think). The krill is really high in protein and should only be a rare treat.
