I just saw one of our res take a poo then turn directly around and eat it. Is this normal? They get fed as directed on this site so i assume theyre well fed. Also they are pretty young only about 2 inch shells.

my turtle likes to accidentally mistake his poop for food and eat it- but then he spits it right back out! haha I assume some of them may like what they've gotten a hold of... animals are capable of doing some pretty nasty stuff! ;) lol

Totally normal. Occasionally I scoop it out, but she usually gets to it before I can.

My guess is that the poo still has some nutrients in it. Well... thats why rabbits(and some other animals) eat their poo. So I've been told.

I used to have a race with my RES to scoop out the poop before he could get to it. Now that he's older, he's not as interested in it any more. Probably knows there's better stuff to be had if he waits... :)

It's completely gross....but it's normal for turtles.
