not eating the rosy...

Posted: Mon Nov 06, 2006 10:57 pmI have had 2 of 6 rosies swimming merrily along in the tank for about 3 months now. They are getting bigger than the turtles! I have seen one of them actually steal food from in front of one of the turts! That is one brave fish!

Posted: Mon Nov 06, 2006 11:56 pmRosie reds are good feeder fish, but they are faster and smarter then common guppies. If your intent is to use rosies as feeders, put them in cold water (below 55F) for a few minutes before putting them in with the turts. It'll be a lot easier for them to catch them.......

FINICKY EATERS
they will actually scorn food that they don't like or don't feel like eating. when mine were younger i made the mistake of feeding them "turtle snack" for a few days cause i ran out of real food.
they loved it. But when i started giving them real food again they actually refused to eat it. they just looked at it, smelled it. and then spun away like it was evil and swam away.
it could be your turts just don't like or want to eat the rosies
