last night when i fell asleep my 11 year old brother, decided to feed the turtles. he was looking for the pellets but couldnt find them anywhere, so he decided to feed them some canned tuna and he fed them litteraly half of a full can of tuna.

this morning when i woke up i set up the feeding tank to feed them and one of my turtles seemed intrested in the pellets, but then literally turned away. he wouldnt touch anything, whatsoever. my brother came up to me and told me that he fed them tuna! i got mad and yelled at him, now he's not aloud to even go near them.i am aware that i shouldt NOT feed them that much tuna, let alone that much food in general, i was curious so i took a little itsy bitsy piece of tuna and put it in the water to see if he would eat it, he quickly went for it...he refuses to eat anything else...what should i do?

and whats the danger in eating that much tuna?

Your turtle's eyes are bigger than his stomach...Even though he's probably stuffed to the gills, he won't refuse something that smells that good to him. They're programmed to eat as though there won't be anything tomorrow (and in the wild there just might not be).

No more tuna, a least for a while (and that while should be very rarely). He needs to accept other foods, and it just might take a bit of time before he realizes that there's no more tuna around. Keep offering other foods until he's eating them. (But if he had that much tuna last night, he's not really going to be that hungry for anything---except smelly tuna).

I would think the danger in this one-time eating of so much tuna would be diarrhea...
