This may seem like a no-brainer, but I have noticed that the last couple of days, Al is VERY hungry. Could it be that he needs more food because he's getting more exercise, since he is in a big pond now? I really don't know if he is swimming MORE than he was before, but I can't think of anything else to explain how hungry he is. I usually feed him every other day, should I be feeding him more often?

Sounds logical to me. Warmer temps will increase the appetite as well, and I think the season has something to do with it also. If he doesn't get any plant matter on the days you don't feed him, I'd offer some. You could also once in a while give him more on a feeding day.
