Feeding and Nutrition :: Is their such a thing as too much lettuce?

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

I'll put a small head of lettuce from the garden in my RES's tank (leafy green lettuce) which is usually 2-3 small-ish leaves, and he'll eat them all within the day. He still eats his usual pellets/other veggies at "meal times". So I'm wondering if it's OK for him to pig out on lettuce? Or should it just be fed with his meals?

Veggies are ok. You'll know if he is getting too much when he gets the runs, lol. Also, be sure you are including variety. That said, you should be good to go. Maybe I need to start a vegetable garden for the turts, lol.

Will the runs just go away on their own? Just asking to know, can't imagine putting the pink thing in the tank.

Adjust the diet to include less of whatever's causing the runs (with my turtles it's not really runs, but very fibrous poop) and they should go away. What do you mean by "pink thing?"

Well, maybe you could explain it to me...(unless the pink is supposed to be Pepto Bismal or something...)

Well yeah, it was the Pepto liquid. So are you saying the runs will go away on their own when you cut back on the greens?
