Too bad you're all the way in Colorado--otherwise, I would just give you all my snails! They drive me insane, and keep breeding in my shrimp tank.

Yeah I could go to Petco/Petsmart to get more, but I really want them to start breeding. This has turned into more of a project than a food source now. :P

Update. I went and bought 10 rosy reds and put them in the tank. I also picked up four more pond snails.

The Tank is only a 2.5 gallon, but the Rosy Reds still have more swimming room than the crowded feeder tank at Petco!

One of the Rosy Reds died and was pinned on the filter, so I removed it and fed it to Brixie. The rest of the Rosy Reds seem to be huddling up in the bottom corner of the mini tank.

I'll feed the Rosy Reds some dried bloodworms I have (that I originally got for Brixie when she refused to eat anything I had) to help kickstart the environment in there. Hopefully the snails will start taking over soon!

Alright fellas, update.

The snails ARE making babies, but at a rate slower than they die. There are some baby snail shells on parts of the tank, but they aren't moving and the bigger snails have all either died or turned into rocks. Any other tips for making them multiply?

Hikari algae wafers and cucumber slices! I think live plants help, too. It gives them a more secure area to lay eggs. Java moss works, too.

I do have some live plants, but I'll try some cucumber slices, maybe that'll help.
