Update. I went and bought 10 rosy reds and put them in the tank. I also picked up four more pond snails.
The Tank is only a 2.5 gallon, but the Rosy Reds still have more swimming room than the crowded feeder tank at Petco!
One of the Rosy Reds died and was pinned on the filter, so I removed it and fed it to Brixie. The rest of the Rosy Reds seem to be huddling up in the bottom corner of the mini tank.
I'll feed the Rosy Reds some dried bloodworms I have (that I originally got for Brixie when she refused to eat anything I had) to help kickstart the environment in there. Hopefully the snails will start taking over soon!
