Boba's diet

I know this is a red ear slider forum but I'm gonna post about my softies diet. Been on these forums too long to change to another one lol. I'm started to notice the shell was curling up at the edges so I had to do some investigating and found out it is mostly from over feeding. Being new to a softshell I didn't know exactly how much to feed him. So I was feeding half a frozen cube of bloodworms, beef heart, and brine shrimp. Alternating between the three for once a day feeding. I think half is too much for his size so I cut it to quarters not halves. I still can't get him to take a pellet but he does graze on lettuce which is good for more variety. I decided today to add cuttle bone to his tank and he took to it right away. I hope this will help to rid of the curling shell issue. I will keep you all posted on what I find, as I'm learning something new every day about softies. He is a cool turtle tho;)

Wow, sounds like he's doing very well. I don't know of shell curling is due to a lack of calcium, but will be interested in your results.

Yeah I don't think it is from calcium deficiency. I'm just offering cuttlebone because it can't hurt to get him on it. I'm about 90% sure the curling is from over feeding. Kinda like pyramiding in our hard shell turtles.
