Feeding baby carrots whole/food distractions?

I know a lot of people say to shred the carrots but I was wondering if it would be ok to give them whole? My My turtle has been chewing on her cork bark lately and I'm trying to find other things for her to chew on so she doesn't completely destroy the cork bark since she uses that for basking. Not to mention the fact that she doesn't actually eat the cork bark so I end up with piles of bark bits at the bottom of her tank. Feeder fish are out of the question as a distraction because she will eat them all at once. She tears through cuttlebones in a few days and two cuttlebones a week doesn't sound very good. She's about 7 inches long and 5 years old Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I have a similar problem. Whole carrots might be a bit dangerous, especially with the aggressive eaters. Maybe try some driftwood decorations? Personally, I'm looking to acquire more cork bark. ::roll::

Thanks steve! I'll look into some driftwood. I got some more cuttlebone today since I ran out a week or two ago and she just ate half of one in one sitting. Is she really that calcium deprived or does she just love eating? If she's going through it so fast should I give her more?

I think she just loves eating. Some are like that. A lot of people say that there is no such thing as too much cuttlebone, but it does seem a lot to me. Then again, my RES won't touch it.

Have you tried cutting it up into small pieces? It might work.

Yup, all the little particles collect against the glass. I'll try again though :)
