Feeding and Nutrition :: Lucky Bamboo, is it safe?

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

Trying to figure out if growing bamboo in the turtle habitat is safe? I see alot of photos with bamboo in the tank but occasionally come across someone declaring that it is toxic if RES's ingest. Does anyone have the ground truth on this? I'd like to grow lots of greenery that reaches out of the tank (300 gall rubbermaid stocktank) and love suggestions on that too!

It's probably safe to keep in the tank, but it's not something I would want the turtle to eat. It's toxic to certain other pets, but no evidence of it harming RES.

I'd create a barrier in the stock tank so turtle can't access but would see the lovely bamboo, and allow it to soak up some nitrogen for the tank.
(tank is heated, goldfish don't mind at all)

The bamboo will share the same water, use the nitrogen produced by turtle/fish waste, but not be accessible to turtle mouth (might have to get creative with a barrier)
