Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

ok, saw someone posted that blueberry helps with skin shedding and so I added this to the diet. First it was 1-3 a week. A few days ago, the little one loved it so much I dropped 6 in and of course, they were all eaten in a few seconds. Over the last few days, I now see undigested blueberry skin in pieces and long strips. I assume this is from the pooping.

For those who feed blueberries, how much do you feed, how big is your RES and do you peel the skin first? I know most of the antioxidant benefits come from the blueberry skin so was wondering what others do.

I only give 1 or 2 at a time but roughly once a month. I leave the skin on but remove the seeds.

I think you're seeing the skin because they had too much of it... this happens when I give too much carrots.

How large is your turtle (from top shell to rear)? Curious.

Ok I should not give 10 blueberries a week them. Lol. But RES just loves them.

I give him blueberries every 2-3 weeks. Usually 1 or 2. I sometimes break it in half so it's easier for him to get to the insides, and he usually leaves the skin floating. My turtle is 2.5".

WOw, leaving skin behind, neat. Our RES is 6-7 inches and munch the blueberry so it breaks the skin, then swallows on the next gulp. Leaves nothing behind... until the pooping that is.
