hi,
i don't think she is 6 months old
if the water is cold, they also refuse to eat.. also don't put too much water in tank
I keep my RES in dry place cuz it's winter, when i give her food i put her in warm water.
remember RES are cold blooded, they can't warm up their self..give her little blanky..don't put her in too cold place..warm place helps baby turtles to grow

check my setup..

Post Posted: Wed Nov 21, 2012 11:44 pm   BABY RES turtle is biting food not swallowing, why?

I recently like 4days ago bought a baby RES 6months old, dark grey, female :msgreen: and 1.5inch. Since i bought her she has barely eaten the food sticks.. WHY DOES SHE BITE THE FOOD AND THRWO AWAY?? She swallows very small amount of it.. She stays whole day outside sun ..basking and playing on rock and water.. In clean water..(water is warm) therefore i assume she gets enough Natural UV direct from sun. But SHE BITES THE FOOD AND DOESNT SWALLOW,why? I tried some other like apple(very small piece) but she ignored.. Didnt ate.. IS THE NEW PLACE MAKING HER AKWARD TO EAT WELL? I am
Not able to get other food for her coz its not availabe atm near the place i live.. .. She seems healthy for me..   :|
PLEASE CHECK THE PIC AND TELL ME IS SHE HEALTHY OR NOT, ?  :msgreen: :|

Your turtle is still getting accustomed to its new environment, and probably new food. Give it a few days. Since turtles are cold-blooded, we don't really have to worry about them not eating for a few days. Your turtle looks healthy :)

Mine has been acting just like her turtle only, it's been five days and I only got him to eat once and it was one guppy. Do you think he is still just adjusting?

Is your turtle a hatchling (shell size around 2") ? If so, one guppy provides much energy for your turtle. I lean towards feeding pellets or fresh vegetable for turtles. It's just easier and prevents overfeeding.

If your turtle is moving and swimming actively, it should be healthy. The lack of appetite is probably due to the turtle adjusting to new environment. Give it a few more days. If you are still worried, you can try the methods of how to entice eating from the main site.

I would try different brand or pellets... get a new package from a pet store. Are you using a thermometer to check the water temperature?
