Hi there everyone,

It is about time Tut has a bit of a treat and we have 3 Apple Snails in with our dwarf frogs right now and have read somewhere that the turts can eat them. The ones we have are about 3 cm by 3cm and seem healthy enough. They are constantly eating everything in the tank!

So can I feed them to him? With shells on or take them off somehow? Just drop them on or should I feed him them in a seperate tank?

Thanks a bunch!

I think they'll just peck at them with the shells on.

I had a couple apple snails in one of my RES tanks in the past. The RES had no interest in them at all for a couple weeks, and then CRUNCH! - they became snacks!

The calcium in the snail shells should be good for the RES, and I believe it is "soft" enough that it won't cause any kind of digestive problems.
