My two YBS are 1 1/2 in. and 1 3/4 in. love lettuce. I put one leaf of red leaf in there and it is just shreds when I come home. I switch to romaine now that I ran out of red and they are just putting little holes all through it. From what I understand it's great that they like their greens at a young age but they need protein to grow. I feed zoo med hatchling and reptomin baby ( switch back and forth day to day) koi wheat germ 2 or 3 days a weeks. Sunday's they get a few mealworms. At least ones a week they eat some carrots. I have also given strawberrys, tomato and ground beef...all only once since I've had them(just over a month now) I have some freeze dried krill they get on occasion too.
Yesterday they demolished 4 smallish red leaf lettuce leafs and they are really working on the romaine now. They beg for food all the time but I don't want to over feed.
Does this sound ok or should I change/add anything?

No thoughts on this? Do you feed unlimited greens? Is OK on young sliders?

Skip mealworms and ground beef. If you want to give them a protein treat, try boiled egg whites and boiled white chicken meat... and these would be classed under rare treats. Krill should also be a rare treat. The rest sounds OK, though I wouldn't give unlimited greens. You might also want to try the occasional guppy or minnow for them to hunt.

Hi Mistic. From what I've read so far in this forum it is okay to feed unlimited greens unless their poop gets runny. then you reduce the greens. Looks like they're having too much protein. Most advice to give pellets every other day and veggies daily. Mealworms and krill just occasional treats.

They do have rosy reds in the tank with them. They have ate a few but not very many.
