Feeding and Nutrition :: Tuna Water

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

Ok. So I'm trying to trick my turtles into eating small pieces of cuttlebone and leafy greens and somebody mentioned using tuna fish water. I tried just dipping them in the water and then feeding it to them right away and initially they had a little bit of interest but its almost like the "smell" got washed away too fast. Should I soak the greens and cuttlebone over night in the tuna water for better results? (So the regular water doesn't dilute the stinky off it right away)

You can try it with the cuttlebone. For the veggies, pick up a veggie clip from your local pet store's aquarium section. It basically just holds it in your place so you turtle can access it whenever he wants.

Got the veggie clip today and what a great idea. I fed them normally and just put some romaine on the clip hanging just within the water. Just to test and see if they'd eat it and they're chomping away on it right now when I went and checked on them. Almost look like they're having fun doing so as some pieces were shred off and Booger dragged it to the other side and started chomping. :) Best couple dollars I've spent. Haha The veggies don't seem to mess up the tank much either like the pellets did which is another huge plus.

Thanks again this site has been awesome in helping me raise these little turts. :)
