Feeding and Nutrition :: crayfish?

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

Can our RES be fed live crayfish? We get them at my school (I'm a teacher, not a student) and we had a lot of offspring produced. I was wondering if I can slowly feed them to our RES as a special treat, while also adding a little to the life of the tank.

Thanks in advance!

Crayfish is susposed to be bad for them cause they can contain bad bacteria or something along those lines which is bad for turtles. Sorry for not being more specific but i forget what it is actually called. I quick looked on the nutrition section here too. Didnt say why but its on the do not feed section.
