I cut a medium sized grape in half, yet still attached by the skin. My turt then preceded to eat the entire thing whole. Is this normal? Because it really doesn't seem like he should be able to eat something that big.

lol. I wonder the same thing. I gave my girls each a whole shrimp off of a store bought shrimp ring..down it went. Any other animal probably would've choked on it.

I quarter the grapes (my RES only likes the red/purple ones) and take the seeds out but leave the skin on. No problem getting that down.

Food Consumption...

I worry about feeding my turtle pieces of food that are too large since he's only a little guy (1.5" shell). Can turtles choke on food that's too big? Mine was struggling on eating a piece of shrimp once, so I struggled to pull it out of his mouth so he didn't choke.
Unfortunately, this hasn't happened recently since my little guy hasn't eaten normally for a couple days! I'm worried about him. He used to gobble down his three pellets and piece of freeze dried plankton at feeding time, but lately he doesn't seem to have any appetite. He seems to be acting as he usually does, but he just won't eat. Should I call a vet?

Update on my turtle's eating habits...I found that he will eat but only the freeze dried plankton. I think I might have spoiled him on them and now he won't eat his pellets. I tried with holding the freeze dried shrimp and only giving him pellets, but he just refused to eat entirely.

Try doing that again for about a week...he'll eat when he's hungry
