I had my turtles out while I changed some water and decided to clean their shells. One of them pooped in the sink. I don't normally put them in the sink, but they had pooped in their container and I didn't want to put clean shells back into poop . . . .

Anyway I turned on the faucet and it dissolved into little pieces of lettuce, recognizable as bits of lettuce.

Is that normal? I would expect it do be more, well, digested and not look like lettuce anymore.

Is there any diet change that can be made to encourage proper digestion?
Right now they are getting pellets daily, except 2Xa week they get jello shots, and either lettuce or a little fish food daily.

Of course this is happening while I acclimate feeder fish and give snails a chance to hide . . . so they will be eating those today too.

From what I've heard, turtles don't fully digest their food.

So when I fed carrots to Bowser, sure enough she pooped pieces of carrots.

Another gross, yet funny, detail was when she ate a whole minnow a couple of days ago.
When she pooped next it seriously looked like a clay sculpture of a fish head.

It was hilarious and disgusting to see!

That is kinda funny.

The only time I've seen real "solid" poop is with a pellet-only diet. Poop from a veggie diet does make more of a mess when broken apart.
