I read a list of the types of plants that RES turtles can eat. Is it okay to get these from a regular food store, or do i need to get them from a pet store specifically for turtles? I got some plants before from a pet store, but it was a longer drive and I can't afford to keep going there on a regular basis to get more.

Things like lettuces and veggies you can get at the grocery store, or a farmer's market. I get an organic lettuce mix and share some with my turtles whenever i fix salad for me.
Here's the list of foods from the main site: http://www.redearslider.com/plants.html

But the aquatic plants, yeah, only at a pet store. You could set up a little tank, if you have it, and stock it with aquatic plants so you have some extra on hand. It will need air flow and a source of food for the plants. But grocery store veggies will be fine, just wash them well in case they have pesticides or other chemicals on them.

My female loves fresh pineapple (she goes crazy when she sees anything yellow, i.e., yellow markers, yellow topped turtle food containers, etc.). She also likes fresh watermelon.

Haha. That is so funny, mine doesn't really have any specific favorites.
