Hi,

I've had my red eared slider for around 2 years now, got her when she was very small.

Her diet has always consisted of the pellet food, and the best one i could find. She didn't always have the best lighting, but now she does.

Her shell isn't in the best shape and i think it is because of her diet. She has slight pyramiding, and sunken scutes, and i've been trying to figure out how to correct it. She currently get's no veggies as she won't take them, but i'm trying to phase them into her diet. I recently gave her some frozen turtle cubes with lots of veggies and stuff, and she really likes them.

Overall, i want to correct her shell issues, it's never been smooth, and i want to help her as much as possible. Any advice as to what i can do would be appreciated.

And yes i read the sticky about what to feed her.

Thanks!!

How big is she? How often do you feed her and how much? What kind of veggies/plants have you tried? What kind of pellets do you give her (what's in it)? Is that the only food she gets? Lots of questions, but maybe your answers can help us answer you :)

As far as I know, pyramiding is a sign of too much food and/or too much protein in the diet. You can't make it go away, but you can stop it from getting worse. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, you know about the diet and you said she has the best lighting (UVB light and heat light? What kind of UVB light is it?).

It will take time for the shell to show any positive changes in diet and habitat.
