I bought my RES some soft food which is supposed to be fed from a dish. I've moved him to an area with a dish, and he won't touch them...actually he just climbs all over them/the dish. He knows that I feed him and will always come to the spot in his tank where he gets food when I walk up, so I've tried to "show" him the food is there, tried adding some of his floating pellets, thinking he'd smell them and go after it, and even tried putting his food in a dish before dropping it in his tank with hopes that he will start to recognize the dish as a food source too...and nothing has worked. If i drop the soft food into his tank, he will eat it; it just sinks to the bottom and makes a huge mess.
How can I get my turtle to eat out of a dish??

By nature, RES eat in the water (they need the water to swallow); so if it were me, I wouldn't waste my time trying to "train" him to do so.

If you want to feed a food that's messy, feed him in a separate container of water.

No, I doubt you can get your turtle to eat from a dish.
Just as marisa says - they need to be under water to be able to swallow, and that's why they don't really tend to try while on land.

Try this, if your turtle lets you hand feed him then give him a pellet on land. Then you'll see that he'll just keep it in his mouth and try to run away (Because you're steelsing ma foodz!)

The rest of the turtles have been adopted to good homes. :)
