I put in a log.. and tiny pieces chipped off. I saw him eatings a few chips. Haven't seen a change in his behaviour no bowel movement (he eats that too =\) anyways is the wood consumption bad?

Its pretty much the same as if you ate wood chips, its not digestable so it just pass trough. Until they were really big and hard piece you have nothing to worry.

ERM, you should worry, because one day buddy, he's gonna accidentally take a big chunk and when that happens, wham. Wherever he's getting the wood from, try to remove or block it out.

Turtles will eat anything. It's best to remove the wood and any chips that are still in the tank.

You can buy plastic of glass ornaments that look like wood, but can't be eaten.

Is this cork or a different type of wood? My RES went nuts bitting his decorations, to the point where he chipped his beak :( When those were removed, he went after the cork basking area.

I think your turtle isn't comfortable with having new stuff put in the tank. Hurricane is a biter, but eventually gets tired of it. Sometimes I do think RES bite things to feel them, kind of like what sharks do, to see if it is edible or something else entirely. But they definitely go overboard in captivity.

The only way I know how to solve that, is to keep putting stuff in the tank, usually after tank cleanings.

These were not new things. He's just bitey. He bites new things, old things, pretty much everything.
