my gals do not eat green etc, only meat, shrimp, snails, etc one of them is getting fat but they wont change diet.

ive tried only giving them green and pellets for 3 days but they got vicious with each other today and they are usually good buddies.

how do i change their diet? i tried making them hungry but they got bitchy and still didnt eat any of the health stuff.

First, cut out all of the treats and feed only pellets (1/2 "head-sized" amount) daily. That should assist in the obesity. The other things like meat, shrimp, and snails have way too much protein and should be given infrequently as a treat only.

As for greens, it's just one of those gotta keep trying things. You want to offer greens daily, even if they aren't eating them. Try out different types of greens, as I have found that my turtle loves the darker lettuces and will leave other lettuces alone.

Also, try a something yummier than lettuce to get them started, like carrot, apple, or mango strips. Cut them into strips so they resemble worms, sort of. These usually entice them and the flavor is sweet. You can also try strawberry slices or blueberries. Don't overfeed these either, as they'll lead to obesity too! Once you get them hooked on a variety of things, they may come around to lettuce.

i have given them everything they are meant to have, (ive only had them 6 months and they are quite large.) they have not taken any fresh greens from me the whole time ive had them, i have read up huge on the subject and have given them huge variety, (or offered them)

they just refuse to eat, i was told to cut back on the protein which i have done and offered them pellets and fresh greens, they have edible greens growing around the pond also. but they are fighting and hungry while the 3 diff varities of dry food i buy sink to the bottom. they go to eat it but spit it out.

one is chasing the other flat out around the pond trying to bite the other. they never behave like this before and im scared of injury. this part is my main concern, i was just going to make them damn hungry so they would eventually take what i offer but wasnt counting on violence!!

What may help is to put your greens in daily and don't feed them any other food, eventually they will get hungry and try it.

You should do this!!!

My kame is also obess...I wonder which is more obess, yours or mine LOL...after finding this forum, I only gave her veggie (not even pellets) for days.

At 1st, she ignore it completely, then she bit a little ans spit it out again when she saw me walking pass her. In the end, I won the battle and she ate her veggie. Till this day, she enjoy every green stuff I give her.

But obesity is not easy to cure!! Kame is still heavy weight :( inspite of all those veggies
