My little RES started to loose color at the top of the shell (the pointy spot). And i am really worried and cannot find anything useful online to determine what is going on! We have a special reptile bulb and on the box it said that the bulb was for reptiles and turtles. Also, we feed them fish, pebbles and occasionally (once a week) some vegetables.
Can someone please help! I don't want my babies getting sick! is that a common thing or some rare disease???

Hmm, that Might be some Mineral build up or needs to Shed, is it White Spots?
And You Feed Your RES Pebbles???????
The tiny Rock pebbles? or is there a Food called Pebbles?
if its the rock pebbles, get Rid of that now, It is extremely hazardous for your turtle!
And what Kind of Fish are you feeding?

Do you mean it's getting darker and losing all the pretty bright colors? If so it just means he's growing up. They don't stay bright and colorful.

Do you mean the turtle is getting a white line down the spine, which is a little raised? If so, perhaps the shell was rubbed against something; hatchlings sometimes are a bit lighter in that area as well. A pic of the shell dry would be good to show exactly what you're talking about.
I hope by "pebbles" you mean pellets...
What kind of light are you using? Does it give off heat? If so, your turtle also needs to be basking under a UVB light (which is flourescent and doesn't give off heat) as well. Two lights---UVB light and a heat source, both of which should be positioned over the basking area. If the light you're using is a UVB light, add another light to provide heat. You can use the one you've got if it gives off heat or use an incandescent light bulb. If the light you have gives off heat, get a UVB light. Basking area temp should be 88 - 90F.
Improper lighting will contribute to shell problems.

NO offense to people who work at Petsmart, but they all don't know everything about turtles. I was told that the uvb light would be enough, but that is wrong. So, it's best to talk to a herp vet or use this site as a guideline
