That's very strange.....No places sell goldfish??
Buying them online is a very expensive option because of the overnight shipping.I would go in a different direction like trying to catch some in a local pond or lake.
On another note feeding live food in not necessary.

If you want live food but not fish you can get them online at reptilefood.com I used to order crickets from them when I had frogs and lizards.

Goldfish can be used but they are high in fat so not very often. Guppies or minnows are better.

Do you have any pet stores in your area?

First of all, don't assume that the pet stores don't have the fish you need. Sometimes they'll keep feeder fish in the back room out of the visual areas. Walk up to an employee or manager and simply ask. Ideally, you want something like rosie red minnows or guppies. Try to stay away from gold fish. If they don't have any, ask them if they know where you can get some. Just a quick google search of your location brought up numerous pet stores and fish stores, so check out other ones. I mean, my closest pet stores are almost always PetSmarts or Petcos, but I rarely buy live fish from them because they look nasty! I would drive 20 minutes away to get my fish before buying from them. Sometimes it's best to shop around and drive out of the way. Live fish are only fed a few each month, depending on size, so you don't need to feed them frequently. My turtle gets live fish once maybe every 4-5 months, and she's no worse for the wear!

Also, the baby turtles can handle live fish. Turtles can eat amazingly large fish for their size, we've seen 3-4 inch turtles eat 6 inch plecos with no problem, just depends on how many bites it takes to get it down. You can breed your own minnows if you find a good stock, as well.
