my new res i got at petco is about 4-5 inches but i dont no how much to feed him because i don't no his age

For pellets, look at his head. Imagine how many pellets would fit into it (be conservative, don't think about a solid block of pellets), and give them that amount every other day. You can experiment a bit and give half that amount daily if you want to give him pellets every day. Don't forget other foods---veggies, worms, crickets, etc. Look at the feeding list for what's good to give.

It sounds so weird to me every time people say "I went to Petco and got a turtle" lol
In New Jersey Petco's or ANY petstores can't sell turtles :( but they do have everything you need for them.
As for the question, Marisa said it all.
