They are just those llittle baby carrotts and its soo funny to watch them carry the carrott and swimming around the tank while trying to get away from the other turtle. I got a little clip of it but i dunno if i can download them on this website.

Make sure that you dont go overboard with the carrots. They have a ton of sugar in them.

Foods high in beta carotene can help enhance coloring (the turtle may get an orange tint around the mouth, but won't turn orange). Many turtles are also attracted to reddish/orange colored food.

Carrots do have sugar, but for me just as important is their rather poor calcium/phosphorus ratio an oxalic acid level. As part of the diet, though, they're fine.

I actually never knew that carrots had sugar in them until I came on this website.

In fact, there is a ton of stuff I didn't know about feeding turtles until I started coming here. I'm glad that putting them on a 24/7, seven month long protein diet never did anything to them. (I'm also glad pyramiding is most likely not linked to protein).

And that's another thing, I give them tomatoes once a week, or lettuce. Both of them love the colors red and green, and go crazy for those veggies.

I did an experiment, to see which kinds of green and red they both liked. I put a light red/pinkish paper in front of the tank, and Typhoon stared it down. When I got a darker red book, and held it before her, she started pawing at the wall like it was her best friend. The same went for Hurricane, only she likes light greens and one shade of dark green. Hurricane also seems to be liking white a lot. I wanna find them some toys/objects that they can play with that'll have those colors.

yup, my turtles get orange lips. and they do have a good diet, a variety of everything! they jus seem too love the carrots. i jus thaught it would be nice to tell ppl that. i ususally have live plants and every once and a while i give them rosies. sometimes they do like the rosies and sometimes they just let them live in the tank! pellets are their main source of food tho. my turtles are very happy and i am verry happy with them, i dont have any other animals so they get my full attention. i'd love to have a huge turtle pond or turtle habitat in my back yard but i dont live in a house, im sure the day i move into a house, i'll deffenantly get more and make an amazing living space for them.
