Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

Hi everyone, I just got a new red ear slider (found him under a pile of leaves in the gutter) and he refuses to eat vegetables. I tried soaking them in tuna water to entice him, but he just just bites them and spits them out. If anyone could give me some tips about how I can get him to eat his vegetables that would be amazing. Thanks

If he's less than 4", he's pretty much only going to be interested in proteins for now. They become more omnivores as they age, but as babies, they just are mainly interested in proteins. It took me 3 months of just trying things out and taking them out when they weren't eaten before my turtle started eating them, and she was about 2 or 2.5" at that point.

Just keep trying, and eventually it should take.

Thanks for all the help. He is about 4.5" right now, I am not sure how old though. We found him under a pile of leaves in a gutter a little while ago. Don't know how he got there, there isn't anhy body of water for miles from where we found him. Anyways, thanks again for the help.

The turtle jello shots are awesome, while I have no problem with my turt eating veggies she destroys those turtle shots in less than a minute!
