Feeding, Reptomin Q:

I have always fed Cozmo ReptoMin, for 16 years now. I usually only feed him every other day. I feel like it is a pretty good diet because I have had him 16 years and he has been in good health for those years. However, I know I should be feeding him vegetables, and maybe fruits, because I know as sliders age they begin eating less meat and more vegetable matter. What are some good veggies to be feeding? Should I stick with greens like collards, mustards, and turnips? Thanks!

oh, should I switch pellets, or am I right in thinking that ReptoMin are the best out there.

Mazuri are a higher quality but are much harder to find. this topic has a few links of places to get them.

as for greens and fruits, there is a wide range of things you can feed. there is a section on the main site that explains it very well

Sweet, I ordered two 1lb bags from BeanFarm. I'll start throwing some greens in too.

Greens are good, basic lettuce greens like romaine and green and red leaf lettuces are usually a hit. Another favorite are carrots, which are good for Vitamin A. Sweet potatoes and mangos and apples, grapes and strawberries. Blueberries are awesome because when you put them in, they float, so the turtle has to exercise and chase them down. But turtles love them!

I've frozen my own blueberries and in a pinch, you can thaw them and give them to him. Check local farms or grocery stores, you may pay a lot for a small pint of them, but then you can freeze them and give them to him later. Though the frozen ones sink rather than float ...

I got Cozmo a day before the Seinfeld where they came out with Kramer's name, Cozmo. I don't know why, but I thought it was with a z and that's how I've been spelling it since 1993 :) The name fits him quite well too!
